Porto, PTAna Luísa Machado is a PhD candidate at i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde. Her research focuses on the colorectal cancer macroenvironment, with a particular emphasis on the communication between the tumor and the bone marrow in a mouse model. She holds two master’s degrees, one in Medicinal Biochemistry and another in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Applied to Health, which have provided her with a strong foundation in the biochemical mechanisms underlying disease progression and advanced statistical methodologies for analyzing complex biological data.
During her PhD, Ana Luísa has been honored with three prestigious international awards from the European Federation of Immunological Societies and the Federation of European Biomedical Societies. She has also co-authored three publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at numerous national and international scientific conferences.
In addition to her research, Ana Luísa is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of molecular biologists. Since 2019, she has served as an invited lecturer at Escola Superior de Saúde do Porto, where she contributes to several courses and actively supports student development.
