Carlos Minutti, PhD
Champalimaud Foundation
Lisbon, PortugalCarlos Minutti began his PhD at the Complutense University of Madrid under the supervision of Prof. Cristina Casals, and later continued his doctoral research at the University of Edinburgh with Prof. Judith Allen. Following postdoctoral training with Dr. Dietmar Zaiss in Edinburgh and Prof. Caetano Reis e Sousa at the Francis Crick Institute, Carlos established the Immunoregulation Laboratory at the Champalimaud Foundation in 2023, supported by an ERC Starting Grant and a La Caixa Health Grant. His lab studies how the immune system anticipates immune demands at sites of emergency. Focusing on conventional dendritic cells (cDCs), the team investigates how the bone marrow acts as a central sensing hub, decoding systemic cues to configure immunity across peripheral tissues. By revealing how cDC diversity and function are pre-programmed in the marrow, the group aims to uncover principles of immune anticipation that could inform improved vaccine design and cancer immunotherapies.
