Group Leader
Natural Intelligence
Champalimaud Foundation

Lisbon, Portugal

Daniel McNamee leads the Natural Intelligence group at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown focusing on describing how the algorithmic mechanisms of inference in learning, memory, and control, may be executed in neural circuits. He first studied Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin, then completed his PhD in Computation & Neural Systems at the California Institute of Technology, and held a postdoctoral fellowship which based him at the University of Cambridge and University College London. Following a short period as senior research scientist at a machine learning startup in London, he joined the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme as Principal Investigator in 2022.
