Helena Xavier-Ferreira is a biochemist who early in her career focused on the study of basic immunology. She got the Bachelor degree from Universidade do Minho (Braga, Portugal) and became a Master in Biochemistry at FCUP/ICBAS (Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal). For the last decade, she has been working as a fellow researcher at i3S, and is now finishing her PhD studies. Her research has tackled several queues in tumor immunology related to the dual roles of the immune system in cancer development and progression, and her main objective is to contribute for the scope of therapeutic strategies against cancer.
