José Teles Reis

PhD candidate
Institute for Cancer Research in Oslo

Oslo, NO

José Teles Reis is a PhD student at the Institute for Cancer Research in Oslo, Norway, where he is working in the laboratory of Prof. Tor Erik Rusten. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon, followed by a Master’s degree in Biomedical Research from NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal.

José has developed novel Drosophila genetic tools that enable systematic genetic manipulation of host tissues within a tumour context. Using this technology, he is investigating how RAS mutant tumor initiation and progression are influenced by the presence of other tumour subclones. His work aims to identify basic mechanisms by which tumour heterogeneity and the microenvironment affect tumor development.
