Maria Bettencourt


PhD Candidate @Champalimaud Foundation



Maria Bettencourt, PhD student in Cell Fitness Lab at Champalimaud Foundation. She did her master in Genetics and Molecular Biosciences at Faculty of Sciences, Lisbon University, and her thesis performed at Instituto Medicina Molecular, Lisboa was published in a peer reviewed journal,  doi: 10.1016/j.jbo.2017.01.002.

In 2016 she joined CCU as technician, and started her PhD with an individual FCT fellowship at ITQB MolBioS program in 2018. Her work has been developed under supervision of Eduardo Moreno and wants to unveil the major physiological relevance of Flower protein during aging and disease progression, namely in a context of cancer metastases in mice.
