Peter Bailey is currently Director of Translational Research at the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer, Lisbon. Peter has made seminal contributions to the classification of pancreatic cancer “Bailey subtypes” and has contributed broadly to the genomic characterisation of several cancers including pancreatic neuroendocrine, oesophageal, and ovarian cancer as a member of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). His current research focuses on mechanisms underpinning resistance to therapy in pancreatic cancer. He will discuss how genetic and non-genetic mechanisms drive chemotherapy resistance in PDAC and how stromal niche factors modulate cancer genomes.
